Alternate Content Delivery Program

Policy (4.4.1.4, 6.4.1.4): The Shepherd University Bookstore will
provide lower cost alternate format textbooks to its students when they are
available and the instructor has approved them as a substitute to the original text.
Alternate format texts are sold at 46% - 48% of the new book price for a traditional textbook.

Textbook Rental Program:

Policy(4.4.1.1,6.1.1.7): The Bookstore will provide a textbook
rental program to its students on a per title basis. New and used
textbooks will be available for rent for a period of one semester at
approximately 50% of the retail selling price.

Used Books


Purchasing policy(3.1.1.2,4.4.1.3.):

         Shepherd University Bookstore maximized purchases of used textbooks by:

             a.  Buying back as many used copies from Shepherd University students as is
                  economically feasible at 50% of the new book price.
             b.  Buying used books from several wholesale companies and searching on-line
                  for exceptional values.
             c.  Encouraging early adoptions from faculty, allowing us to maximize used
                  textbook procurement.

Used textbook inventory for Fall 2011: 595 titles

Buyback policy(3.1.1.2,4.4.1.3):

         Shepherd University Bookstore textbook buyback policy includes:

             a.  Purchasing as many used copies from Shepherd University students as
                  possible.
             b.  Paying 50% of the new book price for all titles bought back from Shepherd
                  students that are needed for the following semester.
             c.  Offering wholesale buyback value for titles not needed for the following
                  term.

Reporting


Percentage of on-time textbook adoptions(3.1.5,3.1.6):

          a.  All adoptions submitted through campus mail or hand-delivered are date stamped
               as they are received in the bookstore. All adoptions e-mailed or submitted through
               the bookstore website will have traceable submission date.
          b.  A spreadsheet is maintained by the Book Division Manager listing all adoptions
               submissions by date received, instructor, course, and date entered in Textbook
               Partner.

Posting (website) dates for textbook adoptions(3.1.5,3.1.6,3.1):

             a.  Textbook adoptions are automatically published on the bookstore website
                  when they are entered into the textbook inventory management system.
             b.  Textbook inventory management system will be used to compile a report of
                  all adoption dates per semester.
